WHAT ME THINKS…(a message to my children who reads my blog.)
ON DIVINE TIMING, ME THINKS THAT…
As it is written in the book of Ecclesiastes, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” Spiritual growth cannot be hurried, just as our old habits die hard. But failures should not be a dead-end. Because Christians are told that we “should work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” My experience with my walk with God taught me a lot about befriending time. Because time goes fast, it passes us by and it gives no excuse. It just goes and one minute of wallowing in defeat and failure, time can never be taken back. How can we befriend time? By walking in faith and believing that what God promised will come to pass, everyday, expect from the Lord, but not stress Him out, because that’s not how he created the earth. He wasn’t in a hurry, although he recognized the importance of sense of urgency, he was never in a stress. I remember in an interview, I was asked if I believed that patience is a virtue, and indeed it is. Patience builds character, because in every challenge you will know how to handle yourself and not get caught in the heat of the moment because you gave yourself a time to think. Like most Christians go through. The questions we ask “When God, When?” “Why God, Why?” “Why not now Lord?” And divine timing always brings forth God’s blessings and abundance.
My new year’s resolution. Continue learning patience!
ON FAITH, ME THINKS THAT….
Believing and standing in the word of God is hard. There were a lot of times that I thought of giving up, because I think to myself “this is not going to work” my life -even imperfect, and where I am today has been based and result on faith on the word of God. I do not have a normal job like everybody else, but here we are sheltered (i live in an apartment), clothed (i can always buy new things), and fed (we can choose where we’d want to eat and what to eat). Most of the time, I am amazed at what God is doing in my life.
ON AN UNLIMITED GOD, ME THINKS THAT…
Before, my view of God is so limited. He can only do as I pray, sometimes because of my ignorance of the Bible, I thought that he can’t really bless me all because my mind limited him to just hearing prayers that I choose to say. But as time goes, and as I study the word of God, I learned that he is the “I AM” the God who delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians, (funny because I spoke to a guy whose great grandmother walked the parted red sea and she lived to tell this amazing story! if you read the Bible I think you know what happened to most of the Israelites because of disobedience.) The bible said “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)
ON CONTROVERSIES AND ISSUES AS CHRISTIANS, ME THINKS THAT…
It is easy to say the bad things rather than the good. It is easy to find fault that find the truth. All of us are individuals who have issues. But it’s not an excuse. All of us have our own accountability. It is your accountability to keep your business to yourself, and the same with me, however, sometimes if not most, we are the ones who makes our own controversies. There are two ways how this happen, 1-you’re doing something and feeling insecure, you went out to look for someone who you think will agree with you. And when you are finally to be found out, you started pointing fingers. A lesson should be learned: do not drag anyone else with your folly (Mark 9:42). 2 – Envy and Jealousy. Not all people are having the time of their life, it’s just that God blessed them because they are obeying the word. We all have our fair share of troubles, we are to think twice before we drag other people in it.
ON FRIENDSHIP, ME THINKS THAT….
A true friendship based on honesty and respect is bound to stay strong and long. My best friend and I do not really have much anything in common, she likes Korean soaps while I loathe it. She likes to do sales, while I shy away from it. But what makes our friendship worthwhile is that we both have a heart for our children, and the effort we put into the relationship. People are sometimes surprised that we have so much to talk to when we live in the same dormitory and sleep beside each other. And what I appreciate more with our friendship is that we don’t talk on mindless things, we don’t talk much about boys and how sorry or pathetic our lives are because we don’t have a lover. But our time is consumed in talking about how we can enrich our lives more, both spiritually and financially. And she respects me, as I do her. They say that respect is earned, but sometimes it is best to give respect in order for the other to reciprocate.
FINALLY, ME THINKS THAT…
Without life’s challenges, my faith in the Lord won’t be strengthened and established in a more solid ground. That prayer has always and will always be the most effective tool of a Christian life. Befriend time by doing God’s work, your ministry may be your family, build up your children diligently, and do not forsake them just because “they’re older” you’d be surprised how needy you are as an adult, what more a young adult. Work with your hands and ask God to bless everything your hand touches. Pay no mind to trivial things like gossip, cruel words about you, it’s no longer you that they’re trying to fight off. It’s the God in you. Know that if God can create the earth and the beasts that hover it for just by words, what more if you study the word and let it be your guide to your day-to-day living. I can always prove that God’s word is practical and still is relevant in our lives.
