Wonder if Smartbro Communications really know how to give a good one.

I just got a notice of disconnection notice in my mail. Which almost literally gave me a hyper tension. Last time, that I had problems with my billing with Smartbro, my concerns about getting my bill right on time for me to settle before this kind of problem happens, but getting a notice like this is something that I’m not really happy to see. So, I’m guessing two things, the bill was already printed out and ready to be sent and they decided to be happy and sent it out on my corrected address (after I’ve settled my bill), or they’re disgruntled that I announced to the blogosphere about the incompetence. What, payback time? I guess I’m just expecting more from them, in terms of doing good business, let alone they’re in the communications department.
The dates on my payment is on November 10 and 11 2009. The date of this disconnection notice is on November 12,2009. Yup, the bill was already printed.
It says that I need to pay PHP3,923.86 inclusive of Pre-Termination. Meaning my bill of 926.86 (that I paid on November 11 2009 with a PHP1000 bill) is topped with a pre-termination of 2,997. Wow! Who died and left a last will that said I’m terminating my service? Can’t they wait until my contract ends?
Before someone else thinks that I’m blowing this out of proportion. Think twice and read between the lines. (Like someone from a hired company of Smartbro who was kind enough to leave a comment on my blog.)
Who said that I’m terminating my service? Can’t they wait until my contract ends? For one, it was not my fault that my bills weren’t getting to my address, because I’m not the one printing them. I’ve informed them of my case numerous times. If I’m going to terminate my service, why would I bother to keep them posted on my new address? I do this every time I pay my bills.
The disconnection notice stated here that as of November 12, 2009 I have an outstanding balance of PHP926.86, add the pre-termination fee of PHP2,997.00, add penalty PHP263.68 (should I “decline with the payment deadline”). The subtotal is PHP4,187.54. There’s also the collection fee of PHP1,172.51. Not bad! It’s good money and I understand that as a businessman, money is my primary concern, regardless of the other factors.
And there’s also a bold print that says:
“PLEASE DISREGARD THIS NOTICE IF YOU HAVE MADE FULL PAYMENT PRIOR TO RECEIPT OF THIS LETTER“
“This is a system generated NOTICE”.
Well, sorry for me, this is a system generated notice, I think the system is too slow to find that my bill has already been paid. Or the system is money hungry because it knows that if it adds the termination fee on my account, the balance will go up to 3K, then I’ve accumulated too much credit and that I have to pay or else! Not to mention my frequent calls to the Customer Service who accessed my account.
So, let’s say that I’ve trusted that Smartbro is doing their job, and I just kept this on for a long time. Not bugging them to change my address, because I trusted that if their technician was able to get to my new address, surely it should show in their “system” and my bills should come on time. And let’s say that I didn’t even bothered to question them about this, and just put up with getting constantly and needlessly disconnected, or end up having more undue stress because I am nagged by constant worries that I have to keep up with an imaginary bill. I guess I will just be bullied by some big corporation to cough up PHP5,360.06. I think that’s a good way to do a sly business.
Yes, I will disregard this notice, but they’re not leaving me a happy customer. I guess with this company, I’m just one of a “statistic” to them.
Aren’t customers supposed to be always right? Doesn’t businesses run by this “motto”
Fat chance?
