Why corruption is still at large in the Philippine government.
Mainly because we allow it.
People would always say “It’s politics.” and they don’t want to lift a finger, mainly because of fear that their comfortable lives will be affected – please know that I’m not “challenging” anyone by this. But let us all be practical, nobody wants to earn the ire of a prominent person, or else we will get into trouble, in more ways than one. Thus the confidence that the politicians have, they think to themselves “they can’t touch me, or else” am I saying that we go to EDSA and create another trend of revolution, it’s already been done, so that type of move is already stale. No effect. And so it lingers.
What can be done? Exercise your right to vote.
The problem comes when people are too lazy to even learn a little about the candidate that they want to vote, most of the time, it’s because “so-and-so” is a friend of friend of friend of the friend of the friends. If you’re really tired of the way things are going, learn about the candidate that you are voting, not just because “you know” the person, but you are confident that this person has the credibility to do the job.
As early as the campaigns go, so it is wise to at least browse at what their platforms are, so you can list down choices, and as the duration of the election draws near, you should have a no to yes list of people to vote.
In politics there’s an old saying that goes “sometimes, one must be sacrificed for the good of many” and the sad part is that, that “one” is the “many” and the beneficiary is the politician himself (and I mean both genders here). So, don’t be surprised if most of our poor country men are the ones suffering, because they don’t have the power of this knowledge that most of us hold, therefore, they are the easy target. A little promising, a little “gift” from the last catastrophes hoarded donations will make a hungry stomach to be inclined to sell their votes. That’s what’s going on, that’s why we’re still victims of corruption.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” – Hosea 4:6
We are starved, so we seek for the morsel, and that morsel is the ticket to heaven for most of these politicians and candidates, because then when our stomachs are filled, we tend to believe that this is the man who will save me and my family from this agony.
I was reminded of this while watching the movie 9. Freedom was found when they went back to the source where the devastation began. It was because of intellect that created the source of power, it was the intellect that devastated their land, but when soul was able to gather the strength, they got their freedom. And I believe that if we all go back to the source, our living God and his word, and know from him what really it is he wants for our lives, only then we will get to the right decision to vote and vote wisely, because we will have the understanding of God’s wisdom and knowledge that will guide us. God established man on earth, he gave us laws to govern this earth, it is high time for us to use it to our benefit – go back to the source.
“Let the dishonest man act dishonestly still; let the filthy make himself filthy still; let the righteous practice righteousness still; and let the holy be made holy still.” – Revelation 22:11
No matter how much we complain, no matter how much of these EDSA Revolution we join, but when God said…
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
This is the very essence why God created the Bible, why his breath is what we breathe in everyday, for Him to govern us so we can live in his provision and protection. Return to the source, because there you will find the answers to your questions…might sound cheesy to you, but:
Wisdom calls aloud in the street,
she raises her voice in the public squares;
at the head of the noisy streets she cries out,
in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:
“How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? – Proverbs 1:20
