October is breast cancer awareness month!

What is Breast Cancer? According to Wikipedia: Breast cancer is a cancer that starts in the breast, usually in the inner lining of the milk ducts or lobules. There are different types of breast cancer, with different stages (spread), aggressiveness, and genetic makeup. With best treatment, 10-year disease-free survival varies from 98% to 10%. Treatment includes surgery, drugs (hormone therapy and chemo therapy), and radiation.[1]

Two aunts already died in my family because of cancer. The first aunt died from bone, and the other one from breast. My mom confessed that she too has what they call the big c. As a Christian, I question that c, why does it have to be big when God is so much bigger than illness?

Any who, prevention is better than cure, let us all take care of our body by eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle. I praise God that I don’t have it, and that my children are lifted from this curse. However, God’s word is practical, and let me also include that I can never say “God is teaching me a lesson, that’s why he gave me this” I’m sorry, but our Lord is not sadistic that he would inflict us with diseases to teach us a lesson, that’s why we have the seed and harvest law in operation, what you sow is what you reap (or Karma). How can someone sow cancer to another person right? So, here’s some practical tips to help prevent from having cancer:

1. Maintain a healthy body. Eat healthy food and watch your weight. Fruits and vegetables has always been part of having a good lifestyle. Always include cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower in your cooking or food that you consume. The greener the veggies, the better.
2. Avoid excessive alcohol intake.
3. Get an exercise routine, a simple work-out.
4. Take supplemental vitamins.
5. Lastly, this is very important: always be positive about your life. Worrying does not solve any problem, the Bible even said that “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life.” [Matthew 6:25-27 New International Version] -now that’s a rebuke for me too.
