Scheduled Post: How a Trojan virus got rid of my Hard drive
Just this week, my hard drive caught a Trojan virus. What I thought was a simple ISP connection problem turned out to be a big mistake. Talk about “quick to judge.”
For the past week, I’ve been using an IP hider to update my blogs, try and send out emails, without even thinking that it might be a cause of a virus. So, on Saturday morning, when I opened my computer, things went weird on me, a lot of my icons are missing, some of my folders have become ghost-like (transparent), and all my files on my main drive is in disarray. I am hoping that it didn’t affected my slave drive, because that’s where I keep all my stuff.
Suffice it to say, I tried to get rid of the virus, but to no avail, the virus was eating up my computer’s system. I went to the school but my computer teacher isn’t around to help me, then my son spoke to the first computer store we rent from time to time, and priced us for a hefty PHP300 just for the virus only. We then looked around and found another computer store, and he was a gem! He gave me tips on how to care for my computer just in case I caught another Trojan, but of course I’m not going to take anymore chances, he worked on the formatting of my hard drive for only PHP150. I’m a part-time computer teacher, but a virus is not what I’m trained for that’s why I still needed an other’s job. My son who is taking up computer technician course still haven’t got to the formatting a hard drive part yet, and both of us were helpless, but we learned a lot from this experience.
Oh another thing, since my computer’s housing is made of metal, and it was heavy for us to drag, I removed the insides of my computer and asked my son to bring the metal housing to the junk shop, we made PHP42.00 and I’m planning to buy a plastic one by the end of October. Right now, I’m working on a naked computer system, LOL!
Adieu!
